A venue I genuinely love returning to

I’ve always had a real soft spot for Old Luxters Barn.

Some wedding venues are beautiful, but some just have a feeling about them — warm, relaxed, calm — and this has always been one of those places for me. The vineyard setting, the countryside around it, the barn itself… it all feels very natural and easy to settle into.

I’ve photographed weddings at Old Luxters Barn many times over the years now, and every time I go back it still feels familiar in the nicest way.

It’s personal for me too

My daughter actually got married at Old Luxters Barn, so it means something more to me than just another venue on the calendar.

I’ve stood there not only as a photographer, but as a mum watching one of the biggest moments in my daughter’s life happen in that space. I think because of that, I notice even more of the emotional little moments when I’m photographing weddings there now.

The quiet nerves before the ceremony. Parents trying not to cry. Those tiny glances between people that happen when nobody thinks anyone is watching.

Those are always the moments I’m drawn to most.

A relaxed documentary approach

My photography style is very natural and documentary. I don’t like turning weddings into long photoshoots or constantly interrupting the flow of the day.

Most of the time I’m simply blending into the background and quietly photographing what’s already happening.

That’s one of the reasons Old Luxters Barn works so beautifully for documentary photography. People relax there naturally. The atmosphere never feels stiff or overly formal, and that always comes through in the photographs.

Real moments over perfect posing

After 15 years of photographing weddings, I’ve learned that the photos people treasure most are rarely the perfectly posed ones.

It’s usually the in-between moments.

Someone laughing during the speeches. A hug that lasts a second longer than expected. Your friends completely losing themselves on the dance floor later in the evening.

That’s the kind of storytelling I love capturing at Old Luxters Barn.
