I remember the first time I photographed at Notley Tythe Barn. I walked in and just thought, this place feels easy. Some venues are beautiful but a bit stiff. This one absolutely isn’t. It kind of wraps around you a bit, in the nicest way.

I shoot in a documentary style. That basically means I’m not going to turn your wedding into a photoshoot or drag you away every five minutes. I just watch, wait, and quietly catch the real stuff as it happens.

That’s usually what I end up photographing.

You don’t need to “be good” at photos

I hear this all the time — “we’re awkward in photos”.

Almost everyone says it. And then five minutes later they’ve completely forgotten I’m even there.

I don’t really do stiff posing or long instructions. I’ll probably just chat to you, get you walking, maybe make a bad joke, and let things settle naturally.

That’s usually when the good stuff happens anyway.

A glance. A laugh you didn’t plan. A moment where you just relax into each other for a second.

That’s enough.

Autumn there is ridiculous in the best way. Everything feels warm and a bit golden and a bit cinematic without trying.

Winter is probably my favourite though. Candles, fairy lights, everyone tucked inside while it’s cold outside… it just works.

What it’s like having me there

I don’t really “direct” your day.

I’m just there. Moving around quietly. Watching for the little moments that disappear if you blink.

Sometimes I’ll step in gently if needed, but mostly I let things breathe.

Couples often tell me afterwards they forgot I was even taking photos, which I take as the biggest compliment.

That’s the whole idea really — your day should feel like your day, not a production.
